Home Brew Recipe for Home Brew in the Style of Kosciuszko Pale Ale
This recipe started out as an attempt to make a Tooheys New clone and it used to be listed as "heritage Lager'. It isn't close enough to the flavour of Tooheys New to call it a clone but this recipe stands on its own as a very fine lager recipe. But then I was at a pub who had a new beer I hadn't heard of called Kosciuszko Pale Ale. I tried it and the flavour was a dead ringer for my heritage lager. So I have decided to put this recipe in the clone section as it isn't really a pale ale. But the flavour is almost an exact match for Kosciuszko Pale Ale. Enjoy!
Ingredients
1 Can Coopers Heritage Lager
1Kg brew booster
Premium lager yeast
12gm Pride of Ringwood finishing hops.
Method
Give the finishing hops a good 10 to 15 minutes of steeping and give the bag a good jiggle throughout. You want to get as much flavour out of the finishing hops as possible for this brew.
Soften the extract can in hot water. Dissolve the brew booster in boiling water in the vat. Add the extract and dissolve/mix. Add the finishing hops then top up with cold water to 23 litres while mixing everything up.
Ideal brewing temperature for this yeast is 12 to 15 degrees but I have brewed is at around 22 degrees with no real problems. It should have a crisper and cleaner taste if you can get the temp down to the proper range though.
Alcohol content should come out at about 4.7%
