George's home brewing site focuses on kit and kilo brewing which basically means using the cans you buy at the supermarket or home brew store along with sugars, yeast, sometimes some additional finishing hops and sometimes some additional beer flavorings. These 'off-the-shelf' beer kits produce some very drinkable beers in their own right. But with a bit of tweaking of the ingredients you can produce some really amazing home brewed beer very simply. For now at least this site is going to steer clear of partial recipes and all grain brewing.
This site is for those who are like me. I love to brew my own beer at home but I don't have much space and I don't have time to spend waiting for the grain and hops to boil. I like to simply stick to mixing up simple recipes that produce amazing brews. If I had a little more space my only addition would be a dedicated beer fridge so I can switch to brewing in 20 litre kegs to eliminate the bottle washing. For now though, I'm stuck with using bottles which is fine by me.
So start browsing through the sections to learn all about how to brew your own beer, the terms home brewers use, the tips, techniques and tricks, equipment you need along with some great recipes. The recipes are aimed at what can be bought from Australian shopping centres and home brew suppliers. So if you are checking out this site from somewhere other than Australia, you might need to figure out your local equivalent or order online (check links section for sources).
Once you have acquired the basic equipment, get stuck into it and give it a go. In no time you will be brewing fine ales at home. Then you just have to contend with your friends constantly dropping around hoping for an invite to join you for a home brewed beer - you have proudly made yourself.
